What Is a Vertical Autoclave?
A vertical autoclave is a type of steam sterilizer where the chamber is oriented vertically, resembling a cylinder. Unlike horizontal autoclaves, vertical autoclaves allow materials to be loaded from the top, which saves floor space and is convenient for small-scale operations. They use high-pressure saturated steam (usually 121–134°C) to sterilize instruments, culture media, lab glassware, and other heat-resistant items.
